On October 5th, 2014, our family will be walking in the JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes. A year ago this week our 12-year old granddaughter Sarah was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes (T1D). Needless to say our lives have been changed forever. As grandparents we are very proud of Sarah as she is learning how to manage this disease. While she enjoys tremendous support from her family and friends, ultimately the bulk of the responsibility falls on Sarah. This is a lot for any kid (or adult) to take on, and we are confident she will continue to make strides in the coming year.
Type 1 diabetes is a life-threatening autoimmune disease in which a person’s pancreas stops producing insulin – a hormone essential to the ability to get energy from food. It strikes both children and adults suddenly and changes life as they know it forever. It cannot be prevented and there is no cure.
We will take part in this year’s Walk to raise funds for the millions of people living with and affected by type 1 diabetes (T1D). The money we raise will help JDRF fund critical research to progressively remove the impact of T1D from people’s lives until no one has to fear developing the disease.
We are actively recruiting anyone who would like to join our team and raise money in support of Sarah Molnar and the JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes.
Two small steps can make a BIG difference!

Please know that more than 80% of JDRF’s expenditures directly support research and research-related education. Past JDRF research efforts have helped to significantly improve the care of people with this disease, and have expanded the critical scientific understanding of T1D. JDRF will not rest until T1D is fully conquered.
We greatly appreciate your consideration and support of this worthy cause. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact us.
Very truly yours,
Lorri & Ken Molnar
