From its start as Armistice Day in 1919 to celebrate the end of the “War to End All Wars” (WWI), to its current incarnation as the holiday to honor the sacrifices and service of all of the patriotic men and women who have ever served in our armed forces, Veteran’s Day is the national recognition of those who have served in both war and peacetime. The offical Washington DC ceremony begins at 11:00 am, in Arlington National Cemetery, where a wreath is laid on the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, and a parade of colors is held by veteran’s organizations. In local celebrations around the nation, we recognize our veterans’ service and sacrifices by placing flags on servicemen and women’s graves, with parades and ceremonies, military exhibits and tributes to distinguished local veterans, and even our youngest Americans participate with “Bring a Veteran to School” days, to honor students’ family and loved ones who have served.
Lorri Molnar offers grateful thanks to all the men and women whose patriotism led them to serve in the US Armed Forces, and extends a warm invitation to any Veteran or family member to contact her for more information about VA loans, and any questions they may have about buying or selling a home or investment property.
